Water Supply Planning and Augmentation Plans
South Adams County Water and Sanitation District relies on a complex network of shallow ground water wells to meet an annual demand projected to grow to over 10,000 acre-feet. BBA assisted the District with identifying senior replacement sources that allow it to pump its well field, even during severe drought. One of the major challenges in a complex augmentation plan is accounting for well pumping, stream depletions and replacement to senior water rights. BBA worked cooperatively with the South Adams County, other water users and the Colorado Division of Water Resources to develop an accounting model that allows for flexible water supply operation and ensures that the river and other water users are kept whole.
