Water Supply Planning and Water Rights

For more than three decades, BBA has provided water rights consulting services to a ski and resort area in western Colorado. To provide early-season skiers with good snow, BBA assisted the client with the development of a novel water rights plan where water is pumped from a 900-foot deep tunnel for snowmaking. During the summer, golfers enjoy an 18-hole golf course watered using supplies implemented by BBA and the client’s water rights attorney. As the resort’s water uses mature, BBA continues to assist with ongoing water rights accounting and operations to provide a reliable water supply, while protecting stream flow in the Snake River. BBA additionally represents the client in water rights negotiations with other individuals, corporations, and state and federal agencies.
