BBA water resources consulting services have supported American Whitewater’s (AW) participation in the Dolores River Dialogue, which is a group made up of Dolores River stakeholders that are interested in understanding potential alternative management opportunities for the Dolores River in order to optimize the benefits for water rights holders, recreation, and environmental interests. This work includes a hydrologic evaluation of Dolores River streamflow available for various recreational opportunities, an analysis of McPhee Reservoir diversions, releases, water rights and demands, and the evaluation of McPhee Reservoir forecasted releases versus actual releases. Research and analysis regarding McPhee Reservoir’s physical supply (snow-pack) and overall basin hydrology have also been conducted for AW.
