BBA Business Manager

BBA Water Consultants, Inc. (BBA) is an established water resource consulting firm in Englewood, CO specializing in surface and ground water hydrology, water rights and water supply planning. BBA was established in 1980 and has been assisting western US water users for over 41 years. BBA employs 15 to 20 geologists, engineers, hydrologists, and office staff.

The part-time BBA Business Manager position is approximately 20 hours per week and is primarily responsible for managing company bookkeeping, customer invoicing, and payroll. The Business Manager prepares financial reports for the BBA shareholders and works with company accountant to ensure accurate record-keeping and reporting. The Business Manager also maintains employee records and personnel files and coordinates employee HR and benefits information with the company’s employee HR and benefits provider.

The primary job responsibilities include the following:

  • Uses QuickBooks, BillQuick, and Excel
  • Prepares customer invoices
  • Reviews timesheets for accuracy and prepares weekly timesheet reports
  • Prepares and processes payroll and tracks employee PTO
  • Pays vendor invoices
  • Records cash receipts and makes bank deposits
  • Prepares weekly cash and accounts receivable reports
  • Conducts monthly reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts
  • Prepares information for the external accountant who creates the company’s monthly financial statements
  • Maintains 401(k) plan records and prepares monthly projection of the company’s annual 401(k) plan profit-sharing and Safe Harbor contribution
  • Maintains accounting and corporate filing system
  • Maintains personnel files
  • Tracks employee annual performance reviews and notifies supervisors of review deadlines
  • Provides support in analysis of annual employee benefits selections

In addition to performing the above required responsibilities, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills or experience:

  • Computer system ‘IT’ skills – function as a liaison with company IT service company, function as first responder to basic IT needs.
  • ‘HR’ Experience - experience with managing staff ‘HR’ issues, evaluating or identifying changes to employee benefits, identifying and orchestrating employee training sessions, etc.
  • Marketing Experience – function as a liaison with company marketing consultant and web site service company, assist with improving company professional image, support and improving proposals, professional resumes, and other marketing materials, enhancing online presence, etc.

The pay rate for this part-time 20 hr/wk position is between $45 and $55 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
