Daniel O. Niemela, Associate, received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in Geology from The Colorado College in May 2000 and has completed graduate course work at the Colorado School of Mines. Since 2002, he has assisted clients with ground water analyses, water rights investigations, water resource planning and augmentation plans. Mr. Niemela is responsible for water resource projects including renewable water supply planning, well construction, well pumping test analysis, well performance projections, design and testing of recharge facilities, ground water and surface water quantifications, historic consumptive use analyses, regional water resource planning, field investigations and geologic data collection and interpretation. Mr. Niemela also specializes in analytical and numerical modeling of ground water systems using Excel, MODFLOW and inverse modeling techniques and Denver Basin aquifers water supply evaluations.
Mr. Niemela is a Technical Director-at-Large for the Colorado Water Well Contractor’s Association and has been active with the Colorado Ground Water Association Board of Directors. He has presented professional papers at the Colorado Ground Water Association Lecture Series, American Water Resource Association National Specialty Conference and the Geologic Society of America Annual Conferences. Mr. Niemela is a registered Professional Geologist in the State of Wyoming.
In addition to his professional interest in water, Daniel enjoys whitewater kayaking and fly fishing. On weekends, he can be found snowboarding, hiking or rock climbing with his wife and two dogs.
